Access settings by tapping the INSPEC icon. Under Network Settings, input your Wi-Fi details (Network Name and Security Key) and enable Wi-Fi. Ensure your phone shares the same Wi-Fi network. No. The camera needs a clear, unobstructed view of your face to track eye movements. Position the device beside your pillow, on a bedside table, or above your head on the headboard so your face stays in view for most of the night, or roll into position after wake-back-to-bed.

To get the best results, lie on your side with your knees slightly bent for stability. This position ensures the INSPEC device can accurately track your REM sleep.

Place the infrared spotlight next to your bed and aim it at the ceiling or the wall you are facing. The reflected light creates more even illumination.

To sharpen the image, manually turn the lens clockwise or counter-clockwise until the image is clear. You can also adjust the lens ring for finer adjustments and to lock the focus in place.

Yes. Lucid Scribe is free and works standalone without any device, giving you technique guides, training programs, and a dream journal. The INSPEC adds automatic REM detection, so cues fire during REM sleep instead of on a fixed schedule.

Tap on the Audio Track setting and select an audio file that has been downloaded on your device.

To set up LED notifications, tap on the colored LEDs to activate them. Mix red, green, and blue LEDs to create your preferred colors. If all LEDs are off, INSPEC won’t flash during rapid eye movements. Adjust the Interval to set the delay between flashes and the Flashes value to control how many times the LEDs light up.

To configure vibrations, enable the Vibrate setting to make your phone vibrate when rapid eye movements are detected. Activate the Send Notifications option to also trigger vibrations on a paired smartwatch during REM sleep.

Video frames from REM episodes are stored on the phone in the secure storage of the app. Video and recording can be turned off and images can be deleted.

Yes, the INSPEC only tracks the face closest to the camera.

Wi-Fi is generally needed for initial setup in order to position the INSPEC at the right angle, and for video clips of REM episodes. The INSPEC can also broadcast its own access point.
